Our World

A word from the editor

Everyone is back at their desks after the summer holidays, raring to go. Even the cows are back in the field after a little grazing break away!

We are having a great start to the season, again working as event partner on the aeo Conference at Earls Court, the European Autumn Gas Conference in Bilbao, World Travel Market at Excel, plus Gramia (Grocery Advertising Media Industry Awards) 2009 & the South West Tourism Awards at Saunton Sands in Devon. The team are also excited to be working on some new events which include the Police Review Awards and the Transport Finance Awards with Jane’s Information Group.

Many congratulations to Trevor Foley, MD of tfconnect for organising the inaugural Global Events Summit which Revelation proudly produced and were a main sponsor of. The summit was held at the fabulous Grove and attracted 100 senior level delegates from all over the world. The programme was truly global, covering new territories, the economy, and investments. We arranged for the demonstration of a 3D hologram of Girls Aloud which caused quite a stir, plus facilitated an interactive session that used the latest interactive notebooks. MD, Trevor Foley, praised the Revelation team during his closing speech saying our delivery and service were ‘brilliant and flawless’, The Event Manager quoted “As usual it was an absolute pleasure working with you on the event and the delivery was faultless, it of course makes such a difference running an event working with people that you can totally rely on and with the Revelation team I can do that”.

Global Event Summit Girls Aloud

Clarion Events have been creating and developing effective exhibitions and events for 30 years and recently used Revelations’ experience to help them appoint their future AV contractor. Revelations’ MD, Matt, sat on their panel which short listed the final four and finally after evaluation, the 23 event contract was awarded to Aztec Event Services and DB Systems. Matt said “As one of the UK’s leading event organisers and certainly one of the most progressive, such a contract with Clarion Events is a big win for any UK exhibition contractor. The team at Clarion were incredibly thorough and conscientious in their deliberations and congratulations to Aztec and DB on their success, I wish them well.”

We too have won some exciting new contracts and are pleased to be working with new clients that include Clarion, The Energy Exchange, Informa & Rapport Events. The team is really looking forward to partnering all of them on some fantastic upcoming projects. Watch this space for updates.

Don’t forget that we are still looking for an Account Manager and a Customer Support Consultant...if you are interested in either role then visit our recruitment page.

I hope you enjoy catching up on what we’ve been doing.

HRH Hologram

What's Happening

Holograms

Event audiences and event organisers are demanding new and innovative concepts, and a live hologram is truly inspiring. The technology as a whole is becoming increasingly popular, either due to the increase in 3D holographic cinema releases or just more people are finding themselves exposed to them through the media. Whatever the reason, using them on an event such as a conference, product launch or exhibition stand, has huge benefits and can really provide your occasion with the Wow Factor. The impact that holograms have on guests is incredible – it gives them a real talking point as well as immediately making you stand out from the competition. Its minimal carbon footprint makes it environmentally friendly and its limitless technological possibilities means that it is always fresh.

The first hologram that Revelation produced was HRH Prince of Wales at the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi last year. The appearance was a world first for any royal family and created a real stir amongst the thousands of delegates attending the conference, as well as the world’s media that were covering the event. The hologram was the perfect tool to deliver the message of sustainability on a world wide stage and has since evoked waves of interest into the feasibility of using this technology on other events.

This is a specialist arena that Revelation has genuine first hand knowledge of. This makes us unique within the event production field and so if you would like to know more about holograms and their application in an event, then we would love to hear from you.

Baking Industry Awards

Baking Industry Awards

This year the Baking Industry Awards 2009 was held at the Hilton Park Lane with a 1920’s/30’s theme.

The Revelation team had fun bringing the theme to life, through the stage that incorporated 1930’s style shapes in green glitter jazz which looked fab when lit. We also created a themed sting and keynote presentation, which featured images of the dancers, from the event marketing, which where animated to dance across the screen. This was all accompanied by 1930’s music. Plus, as an extra special touch, when winners made their spot-lit entrance onto the stage, special firework gobos were projected onto the set.

The award presenter for the evening was the legendary Ronnie Corbett, a true professional. The theme of the event continued into the evening with entertainment coming from a 1930’s band, and a performance from Darren Bennett & Lilia Kopylova, professional ball room dancers and stars of Strictly Come Dancing.

The night finished with a disco, complete with mirror ball and glittering LED dance floor, plus plenty of dancing!

Thank you to all the team for a great event. I thought the set looked great and Ronnie's stage worked really well! The music was perfect. Thank you!” Event Manager, William Reed Business Media.

Piramal

Piramal in Madrid

Piramal Healthcare UK exhibit at the CPhl Worldwide exhibition in Madrid. They asked Revelation to come up with ideas for, produce, organise and run an evening reception for 100 guests, following the exhibition, in central Madrid. Those attending were treated to a once in a lifetime experience, a drinks reception at the exclusive Casino de Madrid with incredible tapas made by the world famous chef Ferran Adrià, who earned the famous restaurant El Bulli it's worldwide fame, being commended as ‘the best chef in the world’.

Our fluent Spanish speaking event manager completed a site check in Madrid pre event to double check everything and then ran the event making sure everything went smoothly. She also acted as a host at the reception, helping with translation and ensuring delegates had a wonderful experience.

The client was so happy with the outcome of the event that they are even talking about us helping next year. Post event they said “Having worked with Revelation at our event in Frankfurt last year I had no doubt that this year would be a success and it was. I would like to thank the team for enabling me to "sit back" and enjoy the event with my colleagues knowing it was all taken care of.”

IP09

IP09

IP09 is a part of the IP Expo, an amalgamation of four distinct exhibitions that cover various technologies used throughout enterprise. Held at Earls Court, London it attracts more than 7000 visitors over its two day duration.

Revelation has produced the show since 2006 but this was the biggest year so far. Working alongside exhibition organisers Imago Communications, we successfully produced ten seminar theatres @ 120 pax, two workshops and one keynote theatre @ 400 pax.

Revelation have provided us with a reliable and professional service for some time now. They work with us and have scaled up in line with the growth of our company whilst keeping costs down. I can rely on their engineer’s professionalism and years of experience. We know our event theatres are in safe hands.” Event Director, Imago Communications

Tourism Management Institute (TMI) Annual Convention

Background

As part of our three year contract with the Tourism Management Institute (TMI) Revelation event managed and produced the TMI Annual Convention, held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Liverpool. More than 100 industry professionals from all over the UK travelled to the 2008 Capital of Culture to engage in a diverse three day programme and make the most of the numerous networking opportunities available.

This year the convention, titled ‘Regeneration, Re-invention, Recession’, specifically wanted to help delegates facing difficulties due to the current economic climate and the effect this is having on the tourism industry, by giving them the opportunity to speak to peers and experts to get advice and support.

Solution

As part of our event management role, the in-house team managed all online bookings and payments, accommodation and onsite registration. We were also required to liaise with and manage all speakers, sponsors and the venue.

For the speakers we provided an online tool where they could upload their presentations so we could compile them into one on a branded template to making it cohesive. On site there was a speaker lounge so that presenters could relax and make any last minute changes to their presentations. For the sponsors, after securing their support we ensured that all agreements were fulfilled and that every opportunity to promote each of the sponsors was maximised.

Another of Revelations key responsibilities was the marketing of the Annual Convention. The event brand was designed by us and then incorporated into every element of marketing and creative for the convention. This included the design, production and maintenance of an event website containing all the information delegates would need to know pre and post event, email invitations, delegate conference bags, badges, onsite signage, graphics boards as well as the 20 page programme and 16 page workbook that were used by delegates at the event. A focused marketing communications campaign, including regular emails and weekly newsletters, was also undertaken in the weeks leading up to the convention to ensure maximum numbers of delegates attended the event.

Onsite, the team designed and installed the stage and set as well as providing a full audio visual package with tailored sound, lighting and media solutions. We also managed breakout rooms for specialist workshops, organised Surgery Sessions where delegates could discuss professional issues with experts as well as coordinating Study Tours that took delegates on visits around the city to see areas of interest.

On the first evening delegates enjoyed a drinks reception and then a gala dinner at the Maritime Museum was held on the second night. The logistics, catering, entertainment, branding and audio visual at both were again managed by us.

Results

The Tourism Management Institute were really happy with how successfully the three days were managed. The City of Liverpool played great hosts for the event and the venue was particularly well received. The Gala Dinner was a huge success, as was the entire programme.

Thank you for all of your assistance with the TMI Convention. I feel that it was a real success and went smoothly from start to finish. I’m sure this will be reflected in the delegate feedback forms.

A feedback survey was distributed at the event and on collation of the results post event, delegates said they had found the convention extremely helpful and had achieved their expectations and in some cases exceeded them!

We are looking forward to the next two years working on the TMI events.

Gramia

What Now

Gramia

We are planning on doing something a little bit special at the Gramia Awards this year – using Media Server Technology we are creating a completely projected set!

The event marketing for this year’s awards features a colourful circus theme. We are planning on projecting the images used throughout the marketing onto a 10ft wide x 20ft high screen. To build a set of this scale would have been very costly, however, by using projection we’ve been able to provide William Reed Business Media with an amazing looking set for less investment, whilst ensuring that the limited space within the venue is no longer an issue.

The Media Server holds all the elements that need projecting; the sting, the Keynote presentation along with the set design, in other cases this may also be video content. All these components can then be projected simultaneously within one another. Due to the size of the area at Gramia, the entire image will be split across two projectors, although with the use of soft-edge blending we can ensure that no-one sees the join.

We have no doubt that the effect will look amazing and is a relatively easy way to give your set a real Wow Factor. If you need any further information on how we could use this in your events call 01454 262 242.

Transport Finance Logo

Jane’s Information Group

We have two shows with Jane’s over the next few months...firstly the Transport Finance Awards at The Merchant Taylors’ Hall, London where we are providing a full event production service for the awards. Our role will include designing and building the stage and set, creating lighting and sound packages to suit the venue, plus all projection and media.

Then we are set to produce the Police Review Awards at The Park Lane Hilton. With more than 650 policemen/women from forces all over the UK attending and up to 80 people on the stage at one time, it will be a big job. To accommodate everyone we are building one of our biggest three tier stages ever for a UK show. With the set covered in blue and white glitter jazz it is going to look phenomenal.

EAGC

We’ve got loads of energy!

We’re really looking forward to producing a number of energy based shows over the next couple of months. As we make a name for ourselves in the industry sector, we are privileged to be working with some of the best in the field. Here’s a look at which shows be are working on.

The Edie Awards with Faversham House Group. Now in its second year, these awards honour the leading environmental consultancies for their contribution to the sector. Although having partnered Faversham House Group for many years this will be a debut on this particular event for our team, which we are very excited about.

The European Autumn Gas Conference (EAGC) with dmg World Media. This will be the 5th consecutive year that we’ll have produced this show. Being held in Bilbao, Spain, the team will travel out to fulfil their role as event production which will include all the AV, lighting, sound, media plus the design and build of the stage and set. We will be providing and managing a speaker preview room and breakout rooms for delegates. Plus the provision of interactive audience voting keypads for all delegates to use during the event, this will include pre event question formatting and post event evaluation.

The Energy Institute Awards working with the Energy Institute. The team worked on these awards last year and return as production management for this year’s ceremony at the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel, with Gabby Logan as guest speaker.

North Africa Oil & Gas Summit & Petchem Arabia with the Energy Exchange. For the North Africa Oil & Gas Summit being held at The Golden Tulip in Tunisia, we are providing a consultancy service by sourcing local contractors and inviting them to tender for the business. We will be advising the client on who best to use, awarding them the contract and then project managing. A crew from Revelation UK will also be present onsite to make sure production is seamless. Petchem Arabia is described as the premier conference for the Middle East petrochemicals sector. Being held in Abu Dhabi, the Revelation Middle East team will be responsible for providing a full production service at the four day event.

Some oldies but goodies...

Here are some entertainment ideas that we love...

Paint Drummers – They don’t speak (making them the perfect international entertainment), they just wow audiences with the incredible display they create through beating drums that are holding masses of luminous paint on them. The colour and creativity of the show is second to none and it has audiences everywhere completely spell bound.

Chocolate Workshop – A perfect icebreaker or team build, plus guests come away with delicious chocolates made with their own fair hands...win win!! There are a number of session ideas that you can chose from or we can create a completely bespoke itinerary according to your brief and budget. Everyone that takes part in these workshops has a blast.

The Tenors or The Divas – Singers (both female and male) mingle in the crowd posing as guests or waiting staff, and then suddenly burst into song. Their fantastic voices and flexibility to blend in to the crowd make them the perfect surprise at any event – and create a talking point that will immediately break the ice.

If you want further ideas on entertainment for your event then don’t hesitate to contact the sales team on 01454 262 242.
