Our MD Matt Sims speaking at International Confex
Our MD, Matt Sims has been asked to participate in a panel session at this year's International Confex being held at Earls Court at the end of February. For those of you who don't know, International Confex is the UK's leading exhibition for the events industry with over a thousand exhibiting companies from over 70 countries. It brings together all levels of event organisers with representatives from venues, destinations and event support services, all there to showcase their products. Not only can visitors be inspired by the stands but the exhibition also provides an ideal networking environment (Confex Connections between 5-7pm on the show floor.
This year the organisers have tried to make Confex feel like more of an event than exhibition, adding in various areas for visitors to enjoy activities away from the show floor. As a result of research showing that visitors to Confex wanted to feel more inspired, Confex knowledge has been created; a programme of seminars designed to stimulate the audience. They will also be available to download or by Podcast after the event.
On request from Hilary Weaver, Director of the aeo, Matt is a panel member at one of the free aeo Confex seminars entitled ‘A View from the Top' aimed at those who hold senior positions in the event management industry. Visitors are invited along to pick up tips from the experts and to share their own experiences. Some of the issues that will be discussed are the challenges and contingency planning associated with taking shows abroad, as well as some disaster recovery stories. Also up for debate is the difficulties that contractors face when striking a balance between reducing tenancy at an event and allowing enough time to build safely and to the right standards, plus other relevant health and safety issues.
