Herman Miller LNDC Launch

Background

Since 1923 Herman Miller have been inventing and refining ergonomic work seating and ‘creating great places to work'. Today they are the second largest office furniture company with customers and locations around the world.

Their main HQ is based in the renowned sustainable offices of VillageGreen in Chippenham, however for the first time ever Herman Miller have a street level showroom based in the London National Design Centre (LNDC) where they will display their products to the public.

Solution

After a long history as event partners, Herman Miller appointed Revelation as event management and production company for the launch of their new office space at the LNDC.

The brief for the launch evening was for Revelation to organise and manage a party within the new premises for 500 people, including a number of press contacts who would be there to report on the evening and the building.

The Revalation team organised entertainment in the form of fire breathers to greet the guests and then inside everyone was treated to a DJ and two live musicians who adlibbed & entertained, providing innovative background music.

It was very important to create a real buzz at the launch and to provide a platform from which the new premises could shine and as Revelation were responsible for all the lighting, sound and audio visual requirements at the event they made sure that this was achieved. This included the production of a flash animation which played on plasma monitors around the venue and imaginative lighting of the venue.

The decoration, catering, hostesses and security were also under the management of Revelation. At the end of the evening guests enjoyed a bacon sandwich wrapped in specially designed paper with the blue print of the building on and were given the gift of a branded red London bus that to remind them of the evening.

Results

Staff and guests were thrilled with the success of the launch and a lot of people congratulated the Revelation team in person on the evening, as well as receiving some incredibly positive feedback in writing from two senior directors;

"Thanks to the team for laying on a truly fantastic evening. The launch party confirmed the opening of our new London showroom and served as a celebration and important marketing activity for Herman Miller. I was absolutely delighted with the way the Revelations team dealt with things during the evening. The space looked really good, the drinks were flowing, the music and entertainment was great. I particularly liked the activities outside to welcome people as they arrived. Your team were almost military in their operation and when I walked in the following morning it was hard to tell that we'd had upwards of 600 people through the space just a few hours before."
