International Wine Challenge - William Reed Publishing

Background

The leading b2b publisher, William Reed organise the International Wine Challenge (IWC) on an annual basis and each year, over 9000 wines from across the globe are judged and tasted by the industry's leading international wine experts. The tasting takes two weeks and then this is followed by an award ceremony to herald the winners. Those who do win receive huge commercial benefits and because of the accolade of winning an award has over consumers it has a proven history of delivering an increase in sales, international recognition and global promotion.

Solution

As part of their long standing relationship, William Reed appointed Revelation as production management company for the IWC Awards at the Grovsenor Hotel, Park Lane, London.

The Revelation team organised the stage and set design which incorporated glitzy star cloth but also required that the IWC branding be reflected to keep consistency with the marketing materials produced for the event. This strong branding was represented through the presentations as well as the graphics for the awards also created by Revelation.

The stage featured two lecterns for the speakers Tim Atkins & Charles Metcalfe and two front projection screens that displayed the winning categories and the award winner’s names.

The projection, the audio and lighting were all supplied and managed by Revelation. In the case of the audio requirements, Revelation liaised with the in-house technical team pre-event to achieve an appropriate sound design and then this was managed by the onsite Revelation team. ‘Walk up’ music was sourced before the event to accompany the award winner’s journey to the stage. The stage was lit using uplighters and a variety of fixtures hung from roof trusses and the winners were followed from their tables to the stage with spot lights.

The Revelation team constructed two reception area photo stands with branded walls for finalists to have their photo taken before sitting down to dinner. The images taken were then downloaded while the guests ate and were used in the main show presentation and inserted into each nominee slide.

The video sting featuring all the relevant sponsors logos for the awards, produced by Revelation, was played on a loop on to the large screens as the guests entered for dinner. To help the audience know what was happening around the room the screens displayed live footage being taken by a cameraman on the floor. This also gave the organisers a record of the evening for prosperity.
