Background

Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) is a government sponsored organisation which supports further and higher education by providing strategic guidance, advice and opportunities to use information and communications technology to support teaching, learning and research. To this end, JISC run a series of conferences, meetings and workshops throughout the UK.


Solution

Revelation event management have been working as event partner with JISC since 2004 providing event management services tailor-made for each event run.

For each JISC event Revelation are there event partner and provide full event management which includes finding the venue and then liaising and managing the venue, organising the catering, food tasting and arranging wireless internet access at the venue.

On top of this Revelation organise the delegate packs, which include the agenda, programme, speaker presentation notes and relevant local information on the location of the event, plus production of delegate badges. Pre-event Revelation manage the online delegate registration process, plus confirming with delegates and providing joining instructions for each event.

As part of the whole event management process, Revelation attend regular planning meetings and provide verbal and written client updates. As JISC is a government funded organisation it is essential that Revelation provide services in a cost-efficient manner. Value for money is key, and as important is a very professional event.

Revelation organise the AV requirements for each event, for the main conference room & the smaller breakout rooms. This could be supplied by Revelation or by the venue, but either way Revelation ensure that it is set up correctly and supported. Additional services required by JISC include providing transportation where needed (e.g. to an evening dinner held outside of the conference venue), speaker management (receiving presentations pre-event & looking after the speakers requirements pre event and on site) and the provision of technicians and project managers.

Results

As part of the event management process, after each event Revelation and JISC have a debrief to discuss how the event went. From this the following feedback was given to Revelation…
