Background

Lewisham Borough Council is one of London’s largest and most vibrant boroughs. Revelation has been working with Lewisham Borough Council for over a year on their key events. They were first employed to work on the Lewisham Pride Awards. Other events that Revelation has since worked on include the Young Mayor, Lewisham Films, Beacon Bids for Racial Equality & Sustainable Energy and their Managers Conference. Revelation has also been employed to produce Young Mayor and Pride Awards for the second year running.

Revelation is delighted to be the event production & management company for Lewisham Borough Council. The relationship has become more established the longer Revelation works with Lewisham and as such their needs have developed.

Solution

The Pride Awards event has existed for a number of years but had grown in success to such a point that Lewisham needed some help. Revelation provided a complete event organisation and production service for the awards. This included the stage, set, sound and lighting plus AV equipment for the presentation. In terms of the Pride brand, the colours were orange and black. Revelation provided a PowerPoint master template, invitations, menus, floral decorations, room dressing and table plans using the colour theme. In addition, Revelation looked after all venue, client & sponsor liaison, full event production and technical support and provided event hosts and the disco. They also filmed the event, so live cameras were provided in addition to editing and film production post event.

In terms of the Young Mayor event (for under 18 year olds), Revelation provided event production for the day.

We filmed the event and then relayed this live to several different areas within the council chamber and also put together a 10 minute DVD that was edited for the youth audience. The DVD was useful in two ways, firstly as a keepsake for the entrants and secondly for promotion of Young Mayor. The final DVD production was created to be fast and funky.

Achieving Beacon status for any council is something to celebrate. Lewisham’s commitment to achieving such a status in Sustainable Energy and Promoting Racial Equality culminated in the opportunity to host an engaging and innovative visit by officials, which demonstrates that commitment and the desire to secure Beacon status.

With regard to the Sustainable Energy Beacon, Revelation produced supportive exhibition display graphics for the event, plus coordinated the logistics of the visit, provided onsite management, delegate badging, and supplied presentation equipment and catering services.

For the Promoting Racial Equality Beacon Revelation produced a 4-minute video, which gave an insight into living in Lewisham. This represented the diverse cultures and communities that make up the fabric of life in the borough.

Revelation provided complete production of the visit including supply of exhibition booths for each department, PowerPoint creation and management, photography, all catering including a themed ‘around the world’ lunch, onsite support, delegate management and badging and venue liaison. The event was a massive success involving large numbers of staff. Morale was boosted by the interactive nature of the event.

Results

The events Revelation has organised and produced have been extremely successful and Lewisham Borough Council is continuing to use Revelation as their event partner. We are now used for all of their out sourced events in the learning and resources department.
