Background

Orange, the mobile communication company, launched in April 1994 with a simple vision. A vision for a brighter future, where people can communicate wherever, whenever & however they wish. With over 10 million customers they are the UK’s number 1 wirefree service.

Orange focus on being a life service provider, rather than being just a mobile phone company. To achieve this they are constantly developing new products and services. So the Orange culture is one of ongoing innovation and creativity. To that end the personal and professional development of their employees is paramount, and as a consequence they run in-depth training and development programmes.

Objectives

The challenge was to provide the Voice, PIM & Email Marketing Department with a fun team building event. The purpose of the day was to build the motivation of this new team and provide them with an opportunity to get to know each other.

Solution

Revelation Event Management were employed by Orange as their event partner to create and manage this team building day.

Center Parcs was chosen as the venue for the event, a perfect setting getting the team away from their normal working environment.

Revelation has a unique approach to team building, which uses creativity & innovation and is centred around drama team facilitation. After an initial welcome and warm up session, the Orange team threw themselves into a comedy improvisation workshop. This is a fun session that accelerates group cohesion and develops spontaneity and co-operation skills.

The afternoon saw the team challenged to complete the International Rescue. This involved various activities including biking and map reading. This develops group communication and planning skills.
In the evening the team returned to Bristol for a relaxing meal and fun prize giving.

Results

Orange were extremely pleased with the team building event. The project manager stated, “Everyone really enjoyed themselves. Julian (one of the team members) said his jaws were aching where he had laughed so much! The food in the restaurant was fantastic and the drinks weren’t bad either! There were a few sore heads the next day!”

She also added “There was no stress for us, knowing that Revelation were taking care of everything”.

“Everything on the day was exceptionally well organised & our original brief was brilliantly interpreted. Fantastic!”
