Swindon Borough Council

Background

Swindon Borough Council holds an election each year in order to elect in new council members.

To support the election, the Council organises an event where a live count of votes for each of the 65 candidates takes place and where the results are announced.

Objectives

The challenge was to create a Counting Event that would inform visitors of the results as the votes came in throughout the day in an entertaining & exciting environment.

Solution

Revelation Event Management were appointed Event Production & Broadcast Company for the event & used their expertise in audio visual technology to meet Swindon Borough Council’s needs.

Revelation provided live cameras to film the counting as it took place. This was projected on to 2 large screens & 6 Plasma Screens, so visitors could watch events as they unfolded. Live TV was also fed in to provide some variety for the audience. In addition, Revelation organised the sound for the event & specialist TV lighting for the BBC & HTV television coverage.

Results

Swindon Borough Council were delighted with the Election Count Event. Hundreds of visitors enjoyed the presentation of the results on the screens, not only being kept informed but also enjoying the excitement & tension generated as the counts grew.
