handbag.com

handbag.com was launched in 1999 and is a 50/50 joint venture between Boots plc and Press Holdings Ltd. Targeting women aged between 25 and 45, handbag.com contains all the information a woman needs for her daily life, including content on important issues like relationships, health, careers and beauty. Currently the site gets over 800,000 unique users each month. Handbag.com developed a competition for budding businesswomen to enter…handbag.com Barclays Business Plan Awards.
The aim of the competition was for entrants who had a winning business plan to be able to launch their business. Ultimately the competition would help 5 women set up their own business.
The finalists were invited to an awards event. This included lunch at a top London restaurant, and various keynote speakers, including Nigel Griffiths, Minster for Small Businesses. This was the second year the competition was being held and the organisers approached Revelation Event Management and asked us to provide a complete event management and production service for the award ceremony.
Solution
Revelation provided a complete organisation and production service, which included sourcing the venue and ensuring it was presented in a way that reflected the two brands.
Coordinated programmes, table plans and menus were created highlighting both the pink and blue of both brands. The table centres were handbags (what else!) with arranged pink gerberas, pearls and grass. Revelation provided the stage, set, sound and lighting, which again took the pink and blue theme.
All the branding within the room moved via lighting effects and outside the building the brands were display on flags. In addition the glass frontage of the restaurant also displayed the brands. Finally, the winner’s trophies were engraved Bristol Blue Cranberry Glass.
Results
The event was a great success, with the client stating, “I loved working with Revelation. Our event was an enormous success and the planning, due to Revelation’s fantastic management, always felt easy. Nothing was a problem for the Revelation team. They were friendly, proactive and efficient”.
